Throughout the month of January, the North Penn community can enjoy a movie and at the same time benefit North Penn schools. A new partnership between the Water Tower Cinema and the North Penn School District (NPSD) Educational Foundation means that 20% of concession proceeds on Mondays & Tuesdays throughout the month of January will go directly to the Foundation to fund innovative classroom grants.

The newly renovated 10-screen Water Tower Cinema movie house serving the Montgomeryville and Lansdale area reopened its doors late last year and the community continues to celebrate this theater’s return.

Consistent with its commitment to actively support the communities where it develops, The Goldenberg Group and Water Tower Cinema have established a Community Giving Program where it will regularly allocate a percentage of its concession proceeds back to local schools and non-profit organizations. Situated centrally within the North Penn School District footprint, Water Tower Cinema has designated The North Penn Educational Foundation as its inaugural community giving recipient. Water Tower Cinema will be allocating 20% of all concession proceeds derived on Mondays and Tuesdays throughout the month of January. On Monday, January 20th, the theater will be screening SELMA in commemoration with Martin Luther King Day and increasing its giving allocation to 40% of all concession sales.

Water Tower Cinema, independently owned and operated, combines a management team that brings years of experience in theatrical exhibition, maintaining the highest standards of customer service attention matched with The Goldenberg Group’s commitment to making its retail development Water Tower Square a centerpiece for community engagement. Plans are underway for exciting and creative programming that includes community speaking events, international and highly acclaimed film festivals, birthday parties, corporate retreats, girls’ night out and mom’s clubs.

“We truly appreciate Water Tower Cinema’s recognition of our North Penn School District community, designating its Educational Foundation as the theater’s inaugural community giving recipient. This fun, exciting opportunity allows our students and families to engage together, frequenting the movie theater throughout the month. Contributions will help support the many initiatives that the Foundation supports throughout the year.” Shared Christine Liberaski, Director of School & Community Engagement for the North Penn School District and Executive Director of the North Penn SD Educational Foundation.

“I’m thrilled that we’re launching our Community Giving campaign, partnering with the North Penn School District Educational Foundation as our first recipient,” said Teri Yago-Ryan, spokesperson for The Goldenberg Group, “our theater brings communities together - this giving campaign directly aligns with our CEO Ken Goldenberg’s vision for our real estate developments and business enterprises to serve as the engine that drives our community impact endeavors, advancing our philanthropic investments, especially in support of education in the neighborhoods where we develop. We hope after families participate in their MLK Day activities, they’ll head to the theater to see Selma and support the North Penn School District Educational Foundation.”
